Bagese (or Bowl Game) is one of many Anishinaabe traditional games of chance. Players toss tokens inside a bowl to earn points, steal points, and compete to collect them all! Scores are derived from the way in which the carved tokens land in the dish.

Bagese can be played by two or more individuals. Not only is this a game of amusement and gambling, but it in some communities carries spiritual teachings and is only played at certain times.

Our reimagined Bagese game invites players of all ages to learn, play, and connect with Ojibwe culture and language. The instructional booklet comes with target gameplay language and video instructions to support learners of all ages and levels. Play in English, Ojibwe, or both!
